What is the origin of Marshmellow? How did it get it's name.
The confection got its name from the flower, the mucilage from the root of which used to be the key ingredient. The flower is a variety of the mallow family which regularly grows in and near marshes (hence, "the marsh mallow"). The confection is now usually made from egg-whites, gelatin, corn-syrup, and sugar (etc.).
