||I have come across the phrase "The Fabled Automatic" several times and have no idea what it means, never mind the origin! Can anyone enlighten me, please?|
The phrase "the Fabled Automatic" appears in Stephen King's "The Body". It is presented as kids' slang that is used to characterize speech or action that, according to kids' code of conduct, necessarily requires physical retaliation. "If a kid ranked out your mom and dad, you had to feed him some knuckles."|
Now THAT's a Fabled Automatic!!
Maybe it's a legitimate piece of regional children's slang.
