My dad (80) used this phrase a lot. He means,"Does this 'meet with your approval'?" I can't find this phrase anywhere. I don't think I have heard it anywhere else but in m family. I would love to tell him where this originated. |

"Coprophagy" is an affinity for feces consumption. Perhaps this is the origin of the phrase, with a somewhat ironic air. |

I'll bet my hat that it doesn't have anything to do with feces!! It sounds like a "Southernism" to me. I'll check out my references. It is vaguely familiar. |

Maybe this is a variation of "copasetty," which is itself a variation of "copacetic." "Everything is copesetty - O.K." "Copasetic" is a word of "unknown origin" that means "fine, all right." From the "Random House Historical Dictionary of American Slang, Volume 1, A-G" by J.E. Lighter, Random House, New York, 1994. |
